THE DAY OF VENGEANCE PART 2 - PASTOR SIDNEY OMOROGBE

TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING HOW GOD LEADS – 3B

1 Sam 2:6, Ex. 12.

What is vengeance?

– Punishment inflicted or retribution exerted for an injury or wrong. Ps. 149:7

– To revenge for an act carried out against one unjustly

– To pay back, to retaliate

– A response to an act of harm or perceived injustice

God has specific days for vengeance. Is 61:2, Is 63:4. God has appointed days of judgement. Jer. 46:9-10.

Why divine vengeance?
God is a God of purpose.

1. To lift up a standard against the attack of the enemy. Is 59:19. God executes judgement to stop the enemy; it is a response from God to stop the enemy’s attack against His people. Acts 12:2-4, vs 21-24.

2. To end your sorrow and your tears. Is 61:1-3. God gives vengeance in order to establish His people in comfort and to end their sorrows.

3. To disgrace the strength of the wicked. Is 63:3-6.

4. To deliver us from the hands of evildoers and our frenemies. Jer. 20:10-13. Frenemies are people that pretend to be our friends but are actually our enemies. They are friends on evil assignment.

5. To cut off witchcraft and wickedness out of the land. Micah 5:12-15. God executes vengeance to clear the land of evil people. Eccl. 8:11.

6. Vengeance is needed for the scriptural promises you have been believing God for to be fulfilled. Luke 21:22. When God takes away the obstacle, you take the miracle. Vengeance comes in order for God’s scriptural agenda over your life to be fulfilled.

7. Vengeance validates the righteousness of God. 2 Thess. 1:6. God executes vengeance to establish His righteousness as a just God. Tribulation is trouble with compound interest. It is compounded calamity. Tribulation puts your enemy in big work so they won’t have time to be troubling you again.

How do we secure divine vengeance?

1. You must walk in the covenant, that is, you must be born again, and be totally rededicated to God. Ex 2:23-25. Covenant is what connects you to God. If you are not committed to God, you will be omitted by God.

2. You have to make demands on God for vengeance. Rom 12:19. You have to go to God on the altar of prayer to make demand for vengeance. Ps 94:1, Luke 18:7-8. When your cry goes up, His vengeance comes down.

3. Engage in warfare praises. Ps 122:1, vs 4-5. Is 33:22, Ps 100:4, Ps 149:5-9. 2 Chron 20:20. When you engage in warfare praises, the enemies turn against themselves.

4. By the anointing. The Holy Spirit, among other things is the spirit of judgement. John 16:8, vs 11. Acts 13:6-11.
