The Leadership Secrets of Jesus III – Luke 2:41 – 52

Leaders are not born, leaders are made (raised). Leadership development is a process and the challenges we face in life is the training ground to develop our leadership potentials. God will always use the circumstances around us to develop the potentials within us. Believers are like teabags, the treasure we carry flows out when placed in hot water (2 Corin. 4:7-9).

Joseph was ordained to emerge as a great leader (Gen. 37:5-11), but in order to emerge as one, God passed him through a process. He needed two vital skills to manage the looming famine that will come to the world when he is a Prime Minister in Egypt; that is, to manage resources and people. In Potiphar’s house, he learnt the art of managing resources (Gen. 39:3-5) and after ‘graduation’, he was sent to the prison to acquire the skill of personnel management – prisoners (Gen. 39:20-22). Every phase you pass through in life, is a development process.

Leadership Principle No. 3: Leaders are not afraid to be alone
One common characteristics of all leaders is loneliness. Leaders are lonely people because they are always in front (Lk 2:46). Jesus, at the young age of 12, was all alone in the temple for 3 days in Jerusalem and yet was not afraid to be alone. True leaders don’t draw strength from others, they draw strength from within. They are propelled by their personal convictions which is based on what they receive from God, and courage to forge ahead against public or general opinion that may be contrary. Leaders always swim against the tide of public opinions and common sense, for instance, Abraham relocating from Mesopotamia (Acts 7:2-5); David confronting Goliath (1 Sam 17:30-50); the three Hebrew boys and Nebuchadnezzar (Dan. 3:11-30); Queen Esther approaching the King (Est 4:15-16).

A true leader is courageous and a risk-takers. They are driven by their inner convictions and courage. Never be afraid to take steps when you have heard from God, every other opinion to the contrary is irrelevant. Receive the spirit of boldness and courage to take that decisive step today. You will succeed. See you at the top.

Shalom!!!

    Lessons for me today:
    1. Leaders always swim against the tide of public opinions and common sense.
    2. True leaders don’t draw strength from others, they draw strength from within.
    3. Believers are like tea bags,………. This is actually food for thought and a moment of sober reflection to me, and I believe also, to most of us. That’s a great revelation from the Throne of Grace.
    More unction to function Sir.
