Understanding the Wonders of Thanksgiving Part 2A – Pastor Ikechukwu Mbah

May 26, 2021

Thanksgiving is the way of God for us (1Thess. 5:18).

In thanksgiving is the will of God concerning us. If you make thanksgiving your way of life, I can assure you, signs and wonders will be your natural experience. Mark 16:17-18. We are not laying hold on this because we have refused to give Him thanks. You have need of patience. You do not need to cry or beg for signs and wonders, you are entitled to obtain His promise. Heb. 10:35-36.

What Is Thanksgiving?

  1. Thanksgiving is a celebration of the acts of God in our lives. You mention it! Luke 17:17. Do not pretend that what you have was received by your strength. We are all receivers and not achievers! It is by the Grace of God. Prov 9:16, 1Sam. 2:9. Ps. 89:1. Do not get tired of saying it, but say it from a pure heart. Isaiah 29:13-14. Let what you say from your mouth match what is in your heart – do not be an hypocrite.
  2. Thanksgiving is ascribing all the Glory to God for where you are. You may not like where you are now, but thank Him for working in your life and keeping you where you are now. 1Cor. 15:10. It is the Grace of God that kept you where you are. If you think you have lost something, the reason you have not lost everything is because God is still at work in your live. You must learn to count your blessings and name them one by one.

What are we thanking God for?

  1. For his faithfulness in our lives. Lamentation 3:22-23. Ps. 34:1. Ps. 89:1. When you think you have gotten to the end of the road, look very well, it is a bend!
  2. To keep the anointing fresh on our lives. David was a man that knew how to praise God. Ps. 22:3. That is the way to keep God in our lives. When we create a natural habitat for God, God will do wonders (Ps. 22:3). Ps. 89:20-22. Ps. 92:10. All thanksgivers are entitled to fresh oil.
  3. With fresh oil, all your enemies will be rendered helpless. As you praise Him, God will empower you with fresh oil so you can crush your enemies. Ps. 92:11. 2Chron. 20:17-22.

What are the benefits of Thanksgiving?

  1. Divine Presence. Ps. 114:1-7, Ps. 22:3. When you praise God, His presence tabernacles with you.
  2. Breakthrough becomes your new identity. Champions are made from challenges. Hab. 3:17-19. If you do not like where you are, celebrate God for it and He would take you to where you want to be. High praises is what guarantees you access to high places.
  3. Thanksgiving multiplies God’s Blessings upon our lives. You do not know how much what is in your hands is worth until you know how to give thanks. John 6:6 – 13. With thanksgiving, you go over and above!

COVENANT FAMILY DAY

Ps. 16:6, 11. Family is a group of people related by blood, marriage, love or custom. Family goes beyond nuclear family. So whatever affects one of them, affects others. Acts 16:31. Acts 10:24. By redemption, our lineage is changed; by redemptive rights, we are members of God’s household where there is no enchantment nor divination against us (Numbers 23:23). In a family that does not know God, their sorrows are multiplied. Ps. 16:4. John 1:12.

If you are already in Christ, there shall be no enchantment against you; but if there is an age-long tradition in your life, God will break it. Amen!

God is committed to saving us and our households. 2Thess. 3:16. Joseph, Esther, etc stood in the gap to save their families.

What do we have to do to rescue our families (spiritual things)?

  1. We should pray for those yet to be saved in our families. Ps. 16:4.
  2. We should plead for mercy. Until you cry out, you cannot come out
  3. You and your household should enter a covenant to serve God. 2Chron. 15:12. Joshua 24:15. Exodus 23:25.
  4. We should pray the wall of fire around our families. Job 1:9-10. Every form of mishap like sickness, frustration, stagnation will not stay. Job 22:28. You should decree enough is enough!

Physical things to do to secure your family?

  1. Vision. What vision do you have for your life? Take along (marry) someone that has same vision. Prov. 29:18
  2. Truth and transparency.
  3. Get counsel. John 6:6. If you refuse counsel, you cannot cancel trouble when it comes.
  4. The way you dress.
  5. Watch your association. Amos 3:3.
  6. Financial matters.
  7. Emotional security. Everyone has feelings, do not ignore the feelings of others.
