The Leadership Secrets of Jesus IV – Luke 2:41 – 52

King Saul and David exemplified two sets of leaders, and this symbolizes the worldly and kingdom pattern of leadership.

King Saul was anointed as a captain – Boss (I Sam 10:1). His leadership pattern was clearly defined by Prophet Samuel before he ascended the throne. King Saul modelled the worldly pattern of leadership (1 Sam. 8:11-18) …this will be the manner of the king that will reign over you). King Saul was a ‘user’ of men and a ‘taker’ from those he was leading. The worldly leader issues orders and takes advantage of people for personal comfort.

David was anointed as a servant (Ps 89:20) and he modelled the kingdom leadership style of serving others and looking for ways to make life better for them (I Sam 25:14-16 …the men were very good to us, and we were not hurt, neither miss we anything. They were a wall unto us both day and night). He cared about his followers and was fair to them (I Sam. 30:10, 20-25). We have these two sets of leaders in Christendom today.

Principle No. 4 – Leaders are Passionate about their Mission and are Focused
Not everyone will emerge as a leader in life because leadership carries a capital cost – sacrifice (Lk. 2:45-47). The boy Jesus, just 12 years old, stayed behind alone in Jerusalem for three days *sacrificing food and sleep* because of passion for his mission. That was the only opportunity he had to acquire the relevant spiritual knowledge needed to accomplish his mission. He had a three-day ‘Bible School Training’.

True leaders are driven by passion for a cause. Leaders don’t start out to look for fame or popularity, they are just passionate about a mission and committed to seeing it done. and in the process they emerge as leaders. Leaders don’t look for positions, they are driven by passion to make a positive difference that will enhance the welfare of others (Neh. 2:3,5 – he had passion, Neh. 5:14 – he became the governor (leader)).

• Men of passion are focused, they are known for one thing: Jesus (Jn. 18:37 – bear witness to the truth), Paul (Phil. 3:13 – reach out to achieve more), Peter (Acts 6:4 – prayer and the Word). To emerge a true leader, you must be passionate and committed to your God ordained assignment; be ready to make sacrifices as you serve others (Lk. 2:8). Do not waste your life, look inwards and take responsibility. You have something to offer that will end the suffering of others. God is counting on you!

You will experience the mercy and goodness of God today. Be blessed.

Shalom!!!
