Romans 10:17 ? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Easter, which marks the celebration of the death and resurrection of Christ is the most profound and turning point season of Christianity (1 Cor. 15:17 – 20, Rom. 6:5). Even in this season of celebration, we shall be drawing certain lessons from the story of the death and resurrection of Christ to strengthen our faith and guide in the journey of life.

The Silence of Saturday ? Matthew 27:57 – 66, Luke 23:52 – 56

Two remarkable days stand out in the story of Easter. Friday, the crucifixion and Sunday, the resurrection. On Friday, Jesus spoke much on how he will liberate the slaves of death by His death and resurrection. The Father God was also active that day. The Temple curtains was rent in twain (Matt. 27:51); the graves of the dead were opened (Matt. 27:52); the earth quaked (Matt. 27:54); and the sun was blocked in the sky (eclipse) for about three hours (Luke 23:44) – because the only begotten of the Father was crucified!

The next day which was Saturday, there was total silence. Jesus was silent in the grave, lifeless (defeated). The tomb sealed with a stone (case closed), the Father God was silent – no sound and no wind. God knew that Christ was in the grave. Why didn’t He do something about it? Just like He knows in our case – the storms we face in our marriages, our businesses and career, our finances and even in our health; yet he does nothing. The Saturday silence torments us!

Let us do what Jesus did. He trusted God to fulfill His will concerning Him (Acts 2:27). Jesus was too confident that God will not abandon Him in the grave. God will not leave you alone in that your struggle, he may be silent but He is not absent, He is too faithful to fail you. Trust God and be patience when you have done His will, yet seeing no result (James 5:7); that is the silent Saturday.

The next morning, which was Sunday, everything changed. The grave was open. The resurrected Christ emerged! Halleluyah!!! Your testimony is at the corner. The silent Saturday has a purpose. Trust God even when He is silent!

Shalom!!! Happy Easter.
